英国ITV开始根据英国女作家Val McDermid的破案小说Dr.Tony Hill中的故事"Mermaids Singing"和"Shadows Rising"改编的英国悬疑破案剧集。之后又由其他人续写，后来在第四季度第二集"Torment"又改编自Val McDermid的Dr.Tony Hill中的故事"The Torment of Others"。 Dr. Tony Hill 这个角色是个大学里面的法庭心理学家，他一起与一位非常干练的女刑事探员Carol Jordan 合作破了一个又一个非常棘手的悬疑案件！ Maggie Thomas is a convicted child killer but, until now, has never divulged where her victims' bodies were buried and Tony reopens the case so that can put this right. Against advice he uses one of his students, Laura, to assist him but then Hattie, a friend of Laura, goes missing. Laura attempts to use the information she has on Maggie to investigate but then another victim is abducted, forcing Maggie to take the law into her own hands.
