在位于埼玉县的某个乡下小镇，留着超级夸张爆炸头的田中广（松田翔太 饰）度过了浑浑噩噩的童年、少年和青年时代，在自作主张从高中退学之后，他作别了死党大泽（堤下敦 饰）、冈本（田中圭 饰）、井上（驹木根隆介 饰）和村田（远藤要 饰），只身前往大都会东京谋生。供职于某隧道挖掘公司的田中，日复一日劳作，不知不觉迎来了24岁的生日。某天他收到井上的结婚请帖，这才想起来和好友们当年的约定：无论将来谁结婚，其他人都要带着自己的女友出席。眼看好友们和各自或平凡或美艳的女友出双入对，卿卿我我，田中心中分外焦急。就在此时，美丽温柔的女邻居加藤亚矢（佐佐木希 饰）出现在他的面前，令废柴田中燃起爱情的希望…… 本片根据漫画家乘附雅春（のりつけ雅春）的人气系列漫画“痞子田中（アフロ田中）”中的《上京田中》改编。Hiroshi Tanaka (Shota Matsuda) sports an intense perm which looks like the Afro hairstyle favored by some African-Americans back in the 1970's. He doesn't get his hair done at a hair shop, he was actually born with his hair like that. For freedom, Hiroshi moves to Tokyo. He works hard there and, even though he turns 24, he still doesn't have a girlfriend. Meanwhile, a school friend informs Hiroshi that he is going to get married. Hiroshi remembers a promise that they made. Hiroshi is even more impatient to find a girlfriend. A beautiful woman named Aya Kato (Nozomi Sasaki) then moves into the neighborhood.
