电影描述一群法国生意人在一战期间来到象牙海岸做贸易，期间遭遇法国与德国开战，他们自发的组织起一支雇佣军对德国人发动攻击，途中经历了很多事情，引发了很多戏剧性的故事……French colonists in Africa, several months behind in the news, find themselves at war with their German neighbors. Deciding that they must do their proper duty and fight the Germans, they promptly conscript the local native population. Issuing them boots and rifles, the French attempt to make "proper" soldiers out of the Africans. A young, idealistic French geographer seems to be the only rational person in the town, and he takes over control of the "war" after several bungles on the part of the others.
