住在纽约的布鲁克林的西迪(喜弟)与慈祥的父母还有被深受住在落后地区朋友的喜爱，愉快的生活着。但是，西迪的父亲詹姆斯去世之后。得知詹姆斯死亡的西迪的祖父道林柯特伯爵，为了培育西迪作为他的接班人，把他接到英国来。 道林柯特伯爵的教育方针，是要他离母亲远远的，并且要西迪和他一起生活，但是有着先天的乐观的心与同情心的西迪，用他的方法慢慢的融化伯爵冰冷的心。 1989年引进台湾在台视播映时，当时翻译成小王子，只不过这个标题，在当时法国已经有人使用过这名字了，那是法国作家安东万·德·圣-艾克絮佩里的作品‘小王子’(Le Petit Prince)，是与本作不一样的故事。后来发行DVD时，因为怕名字冲突，才改标题叫“小公子”。只不过原作小说也叫做“小公子”(小公子冯特罗)，坊间都找得到，为此这里只好把名字也加了上去，得以区分。An animated adaptation of the novel \"Little Lord Fauntleroy\" (1886) by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The 7-year-old Cedric \"Ceddie\" Errol is a British-American boy, raised in New York City. He loves playing baseball and playing the flute. Following the death of his father at an early age, Ceddie becomes the only available heir to his elderly grandfather, the Earl Dorincourt. Ceddie takes up residence in his family's ancestral castle in the United Kingdom, and is soon followed there by his widowed mother. The current Earl is a bitter and selfish old man, who tries to teach aristocratic values to Ceddie. In return, Ceddie tries to teach the old man about compassion and caring for something other than yourself.
