For the next two years, she battled a variety of financial problems, and still continues to battle them before finally setting up Balaji Healthcare. Today, the three-storey, 100-bed facility, spread over half an acre, has 85 residents. The hospitals team of 70-odd trained care-givers, mostly locals from the surrounding villages, provides round the-clock treatment to the residents. Many residents are admitted with health issues such as Parkinson, Alzheimer, schizophrenia and other physiological problems related to ageing. A majority of residents live with them for several years, often until their death.
